Knives & Bladed objects

A pair of knives done in 42-layer twist pattern damascus. These were based off a design originally done by Peter Swarz-Burt of Dragon's Breath Forge.

The pattern straight out of the etchant has an intensely high contrast among the layers. If only it stayed this way...

Two knives in my usual "Blacksmith's knife" style, plus a variant ring handle I like to do occasionally.

Three knives fresh out of the tempering oven, before grinding and polishing.

Another Blacksmith's knife, this time with a custom sheath by Andy Fyfe of Savagepunk Studios.

A very low layer twist pattern knife, composed of 4 different types of steel. I adore bold patterns like this, expect to see more in the future.

A sturdy knife with a touch of class. 5160 blade, mahogany handle and bronze bolster and accents.

A remake of the blade I made during my appearance on Forged in Fire, only this version has much less ambiguity about the composition. This was made from a 5-layer billet: 1095 core, 15n20 intermediate, and mild steel outer. The handle scales are dyed curly maple with bronze pins.

I did my best to retain some evidence of the forging process, I often like to leave some behind as a contrast to the polished portions.

By far the largest bladed item I've ever forged. This commissioned piece was a full 45" long from point to pommel. The blade was made from 5160 and features a fuller running approximately two-thirds the length on both sides. The guard, handle spacer, pommel, and orienting block are all forged from mild steel. Both the design on the pommel and the text in the fullers were carved by me.

The handle wood is dyed curly maple, and the customer requested twisted, inlaid silver wire throughout. This essentially rules out the use of this as a "functional" piece, but definitely adds a satisfying touch.

The inscription on this side reads "Chance Favors the Prepared Mind". Both the text and font style were by customer request.

The inscription on this side reads "Without God without anything, God is enough", which is a translation of a Welsh family motto . Both the text and font style were by customer request.
